MerleFest Music Festival 2015 – April 23 – 26 in Wilksesboro, NC
MerleFest is an annual Americana music festival held in in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. The focus is traditional, roots music, and includes blues, country, and rock.
The festival features over a dozen stages of live music, jam camp, picking sessions, and nature walks.
The 2015 line-up includes Dwight Yoakam, The Avett Brothers, Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn, Hot Rize, Lee Ann Womack, North Mississippi Allstars, The Del McCoury Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, Earls of Leicester, Robert Earl Keen, Steep Canyon Rangers, and many, many, more. There’s camping on-site, or there are several hotels choices nearby.
The fest, by the way, is named after Eddy Merle Watson, son of Doc Watson. Doc Watson started the festival in his son’s memory after his son passed away in a farming accident. The event is a fundraiser for Wilkes Community College, where the event is held.
