The October Mega Concert at Coachella Site is Really Happening
We reported a few weeks ago that the promoters behind the Coachella Music Festival were planning a three-night mega concert event starring some of the biggest living legends in Rock and Roll. Well, it’s actually happening.
The event is being billed as “Desert Trip” and will be held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA, which is where the Coachella Festival is held each year. A lot of folks are referring to the event as Oldchella, noting the older age of the performers , and likely the audience, at this classic rock event, versus the younger acts and crowd that attend Coachella.
Here’s the line-up. Ready for this? Friday night: The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. Saturday night: Paul McCartney and Neil Young. Saturday night: Roger Waters and The Who. Two full shows each night. No abbreviated festival-style sets.
It all happens October 7, 8 and 9, 2016. Tickets go on sale Monday, May 9th at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time at the DesertTrip.com website.
Single-day and three-day passes will be available. The single-day passes start at $199 and the three-day passes start at $399.
Once you get your tickets, you’ll want to make your hotel reservations. October isn’t that far away and area hotels will likely fill up fast. Last we checked many of them had openings for the Desert Trip weekend, but that probably won’t be the case for long.
Indio is in the desert region of California. Even in October, it will be fairly warm. The average high temperature for October is 91.9 degrees and the average low is 63.7 degrees. The concerts are all in the evening, so that should help keep things cooler.
