The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles

The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles

#5 on Rolling Stone’s Top 10 Amphitheaters list is The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.  Yes, that makes two California “Greek” theaters on the Top 10 List. And it’s another old one. Greek architecture was all the rage in the early 1900s, apparently.

This Greek theater was created thanks to wealthy California resident Griffith J. Griffith (not a typo, same name first and last).  Mr. Griffith donated a bunch of land to the city of Los Angeles for what would become Griffith Park. And he left money for the construction of the theater in his will.
