Rolling Stone’s Top 10 Amphitheaters
It’s summer time and that means it’s time for outdoor concerts. Just about every community across the country has some sort of outdoor concert space, be it an open farm field, a city park, or an amphitheater facility.
Rolling Stone magazine polled musicians and music industry folks and came up with a list of the nation’s “coolest outdoor amphitheaters.” We’ll feature the Top 10 here over the next few days.
Starting off at the bottom of the Top 10 list, at #10 is Ravinia in Chicago, Illinois. This popular outdoor venue hosts a varied array of summer performances, with the best in everything from classical music to pop. Revinia Festival is the oldest outdoor music festival in the U.S. and has been the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 1936.
There’s pavilion seating here, but the lawn seating is a great place to set up a picnic to enjoy with your concert. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring chairs, tables, food and drinks. See first-timers information about attending a concert at Ravinia. And if you have access to the Metra North Line Commuter train, it stops right at the front gate.
