JBL Live Concerts at Pier 97 in NYC’s Hudson River Park
The JBL Live stage at Pier 97 is one of the latest additions to New York City’s Hudson River Park. The park, which runs along Manhattan’s west side waterfront from Battery Park to 59th Street, has seen constant additions and improvements in recent years. There are bike paths and green spaces creating a corridor along the waterfront, but the most notable aspect of Hudson River park is the adaptive redevelopment of the many piers located along the shoreline. Several of the piers have been transformed into parks, complete with sunbathing areas, others host recreational activities such as sailing, kayaking, skating, driving ranges, and batting cages.
Pier 97 is located at West 55th Street in Clinton. It’s one of the northern-most piers in the Hudson River Park system. The concert venue at Pier 97 first opened last year as JBL Live and featured concerts by The Fray and Michael Franti & Spearhead.
The pier has capacity to accommodate 5,000 concert-goers. The stage is oriented to face toward the river, directing sound out over the water and providing a city skyline backdrop for the stage.
Hotels
Nearby hotel options include the Holiday Inn New York City Midtown 57th Street, the Hudson New York Central Park, and the Comfort Inn Midtown West.
Everything is going to be at least a couple blocks walk to the pier, but it’s New York City, so a little walking can be expected. Choose a hotel that’s close to other things you might want to see or do while you’re there. There are two clusters of hotels fairly close to Pier 97 – one set is near Columbus Circle and the southern entrance to Central Park and the other is set is in Hell’s Kitchen.
