Americanafest NYC
If you love Americana music, New York City is the place to be August 8 & 9, 2015.
Americanafest NYC is part of the annual free summer entertainment series put on by Lincoln Center Out of Doors July 22nd – August 9th. The series includes lots of great music and dance, but the August 8th and 9th dates are the highlight for fans of Americana music.
Saturday evening’s concert is a performance of Bob Dylan’s Highway 61 album in its entirety by the Watkins Family Hour House Band (Sean and Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek), Shawn Colvin, Rodney Crowell, Pokey LaForge, and Aimee Man & Ted Leo, and special guest Fiona Apple.
Saturday afternoon has a concert by Sam Outlaw and the Quebe Sisters.
Sunday afternoon has a concert by Iris DeMent. And then Sunday evening wraps up with Lyle Lovett and his Large Band.
The concerts are held at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park and Hearst Plaza. And all the concerts are free. Seating for the Damroasch Park events is first come, first served. Popular concerts often reach capacity quickly, so people start lining up well in advance of the gate opening time, which is usually an hour before the show.
Visit the Lincoln Center Out of Doors website for details.
