DC’s New Music Venue, The Anthem will Host Foo Fighters, Lorde
It looks like The Anthem is going to be one of Washington DC’s hot spots for live music. The new venue, which is being constructed as part of a redevelopment project of DC’s southwest waterfront area, opens October 12 with a show by the Foo Fighters.
Lorde has been announced for an April 8, 2018 show for the venue.
No further concert announcements have been made yet, but if those first two announcements are any indicator of things to come, The Anthem may become one of the top destinations for concert-goers in the DC area.
The space has a flexible capacity and can hold from 2,500 to 6,000 people. The owners of The Anthem also own the popular 9:30 Club on V Street in DC.
In addition to The Anthem, the Wharf District has a floating barge which will serve as a stage for outdoor performances, restaurants, shopping, and a fish market. Water taxi service is planned to connect the Wharf with other waterfront areas of DC.
The soon-to-be-opened Intercontinental Hotel Washington D.C. at The Wharf will be the closest hotel to the new venue.
