Back to Back Festival Weekends at Louisville, Kentucky’s Highland Festival Grounds
September is a busy month in Louisville, Kentucky, when the city plays host to two huge music festival on back-to-back weekends. Both events are held at the Highland Festival Grounds at Kentucky Expo Center.
Bourbon & Beyond arrives first, taking place September 19 – 22, 2024. Billed as the world’s largest music, food, and bourbon festival, Bourbon & Beyond has expanded to a four-day event that pulls in an impressive and diverse lineup of performers. This year’s lineup includes Zach Bryan, Dave Matthews Band, Tyler Childers, Neil Young, Beck, Matchbox Twenty, The National, My Morning Jacket, The War on Drugs, Whiskey Myers, Cody Jinks, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Black Pumas, The Beach Boys, Mt. Joy, Chris Isaak, Lyle Lovett, The Wallflowers, Larkin Poe, Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers, and many, many more. Weekend Passes and Single Day tickets are on sale now at the festival website.
If your taste runs toward a heavier brand of rock, Louder Than Life takes over the Highland Festival Grounds September 26 – 29, 2024. Early Bird passes for Louder Than Life are on sale now but the performer lineup has not yet been announced. The 2023 lineup included Foo Fighters, Green Day, and Weezer. We’re anxiously awaiting the announcement of who’s playing at Louder Than Life 2024.
Check These Hotels First
Hotels closest to the Highland Festival Grounds tend to fill up quickly for the Bourbon & Beyond and Louder Than Life weekends but there are plenty of hotels in the Louisville area – it just might take some searching to find something with available rooms.
We found that downtown hotels don’t fill up as fast than the hotels next the airport and Expo Center, so that’s a good place to start. There are some interesting downtown hotels to choose from, including historic properties, and most are about a 15 minute drive to the Highland Festival Ground at Kentucky Expo.
